It’s winter in La Cienaga. Amalia and Josefina are sixteen year old girls who get together after choir rehearsals in the parish church to discuss faith and vocation. In between the discussions, they whisper secretly about kissing. Her pious intent leads Amalia to find her vocation – to save a man from sin. A chance encounter between Amalia and Dr Jano, who is attending a medical conference in town, catches Dr. Jano in a web of good intentions that bring the respected provincial doctor's world to the brink of collapse.
