On Thursday Sept 8th we are pleased to present a screening of SONY PICTURES' THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE, followed by a discussion examining the role of church and state. The disussion will be lead by Kent Morgan, Sandy based State prosecutor who handled the Elizabeth Smart case; Lance S. The Exorcism of Emily Rose is based on true and recent events and focuses on an extremely rare decision by the Catholic Church to officially recognize
the demonic possession of a 19 year-old college freshman. The Exorcism of Emily Rose chronicles the haunting trial of the priest accused of negligence resulting in the death of the young girl believed to be possessed. Laura Linney stars in this film that depicts the fine line between Church and State and forces audiences to choose who is to be held responsible for the death of Emily Rose. Tom Wilkenson plays the priest. The story is told in the court room through flash back testimonies.
The actual exorcism took place in Germany in 1974. This adaptation is set in contemporary times in Minnesota. For more information go to www.theexorcismofemilyrose.com
